A wave of fear is sweeping across Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) as students, especially those staying off-campus, continue to suffer in silence amid increasing reports of midnight robbery attacks. The affected areas — Ijagun, Imaweje, Abapawa, and Ijele — have become hotspots for these terrifying incidents, with some students allegedly sustaining injuries during the break-ins.
According to multiple reports, these attacks usually happen in the middle of the night, when robbers break into hostels, carting away phones, laptops, money, and other valuables. Female students, in particular, have been left traumatized, with some suffering physical harm during the invasions.
A female student recently took to Instagram to share her frustration and plea for help:
“This robbery issue abeg, where can we make the complaints so it will get to the right source — so they can help us find something to do about it… it’s getting too much o,” she wrote.
The student added that she fears for her safety and urged fellow students to speak up until the right people hear their voices.
The situation has triggered serious concern within the TASUED student community, with many now demanding urgent intervention from the school authorities, local security operatives, community vigilantes, and Ogun State government. They are calling for increased night patrols, better hostel security, and a central channel for reporting attacks.
This is not the first time off-campus insecurity has been raised at TASUED, but students now say it’s at a boiling point.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been released by TASUED authorities, Studnets Union Representative or law enforcement agencies, but students are hoping that the recent outcry will finally spark swift and lasting action.

“A Platform for Expression and Identity” – Toyosola Amuludun. Speaking to the press about the significance of this year’s festival, Toyosola Amuludun, Creative Director of TASUEDFinest and lead organizer of the event, stated: “The TASUED Colour Festival 3.0 is more than just an event — it’s a platform for young people to explore their identities, celebrate their roots, and showcase their talents. The ‘Colour Explosion’ theme reflects the vibrant energy and limitless creativity of TASUED students. We’re creating not just an experience, but a legacy.”
According to Amuludun, this year’s edition will also feature surprise guest appearances, pop-up exhibitions, branded installations, media interviews, and the TASUEDFinest Awards — a recognition platform celebrating campus influencers, student leaders, and creative trailblazers.
He noted that the festival has grown stronger each year thanks to the incredible support of brands that understand the power of youth culture. Past sponsors such as Infinix Nigeria, Munch It, Monster Energy, Quick Choice, Escalade Haven, and other lifestyle and tech-focused companies have helped build the experience into what it is today — colourful, charged, and unforgettable.
Since its inception, the TASUED Colour Festival has rapidly grown into one of the most anticipated annual events in Ogun State’s student community. It embodies the spirit of TASUED: forward-thinking, proudly African, and unapologetically youthful.
The organizers have called on brands, student entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders to take advantage of sponsorship and partnership opportunities, emphasizing the festival’s ability to drive youth engagement, brand visibility, and cultural impact.
“We’re inviting everyone – students, creatives, alumni, and corporate brands – to join this celebration of unity through diversity. This is not just TASUED’s story; it’s Nigeria’s youth story, told in colour,” Amuludun added.

The curtain has officially fallen on Group B of the 2025 TASUED Olympic Games, and what a spectacle it was. A group that was initially tipped to be one-sided quickly morphed into a chaotic battlefield where reputations were challenged, young stars emerged, and tactical brilliance made the difference. With every point fiercely contested, the group delivered drama from the first whistle to the last.
CHEMISTRY – SCIENCE OF GOALS & GRIT
Chemistry stormed back into contention after a disappointing loss to GCP with two commanding wins that demonstrated tactical maturity and attacking chemistry—pun intended. Their final group game against Technical Education was a masterclass in precision and pressing football. Goals from Olumide, Oyindamola, and Pablo capped off a statement win and helped them clinch the top spot on goal difference.
Standout Player: Ezekiel Andrew, whose early double against Religious Studies set the tone for Chemistry’s campaign.
MOTM Mentions: Olumide, Ezekiel Andrew
TECHNICAL EDUCATION – DISCIPLINED & DETERMINED
Technical Education looked destined for dominance after collecting 6 points from their first two fixtures, including a 3-0 walkover win against GCP and a narrow 2-1 victory over Religious Studies, courtesy of Bakare Radheed’s deadly finishing. However, their defensive line crumbled against Chemistry in their last game, exposing gaps that cost them the top of the table finish. Still, a strong 2nd place secured their spot in the knockout round.
Standout Player: Bakare Radheed – clutch goals, high work rate, and cool composure.
GCP proved to be the wild card of the group. They stunned Chemistry with a confident 2-0 victory, signaling their threat early, but couldn’t maintain momentum. A 1-1 draw with Religious Studies wasn’t enough to push them through, despite valiant efforts from players like Adeyemo Wariz and Atanda. A missed opportunity for a team filled with promise.
Standout Player: Adeyemo Wariz – his creativity and vision made GCP tick.
MOTM Mentions: Adeyemo Wariz
RELIGIOUS STUDIES – FIGHTERS BUT FAULTY FINISHERS
While they may not have won a match, Religious Studies can hold their heads high. They fought till the end in every fixture, scoring in two of their games and displaying grit in midfield. Unfortunately, their lack of attacking firepower and lapses in defense left them bottom of the group.
Standout Player: Akingbaje – resilient and sharp in tight spaces.
TOTAL GOALS SCORED:
16 goals were scored in Group B’s 6 games – averaging 2.67 goals per match. From long-range screamers to calmly converted penalties, every goal shifted the group dynamic dramatically.
TOP SCORERS FROM GROUP B:
Ezekiel Andrew (Chemistry) – 2
goals Bakare Radheed (Tech Edu) – 2 goals
Olumide (Chemistry) – 1 goal
Oyindamola (Chemistry) – 1 goal
Pablo (Chemistry) – 1 goal
Anuoluwapo Alabi (GCP) – 1 goa
Adesanwo Austin (GCP) – 1 goal
Atanda (GCP) – 1 goal
Akingbaje (Religious) – 1 goal
Falade Faruq (Religious) – 1 goal
No single player dominated the score sheet, reflecting the competitive balance of the group.
WHAT’S NEXT?
With Group B now wrapped up, Chemistry and Technical Education will head into the knockout stages, where the margin for error shrinks and every second counts. Can Chemistry maintain their momentum? Or will Technical Education regroup and reassert their dominance?
All eyes now shift to the remaining groups as the qualification race tightens.

The Federal Government has officially adopted the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, as a Federal University. This development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s education sector, as TASUED transitions from a state-owned institution to the country’s third Federal University of Education.
Founded in 2005 by the Ogun State Government, TASUED stands as Nigeria’s first specialised university of education, named in honour of Dr. Tai Solarin, a renowned educationist and activist. With this federal adoption, TASUED becomes the first federally owned tertiary institution in Ogun East senatorial district, further cementing its reputation as a center of academic excellence.
Announcing the decision on Friday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Ogun State Government for facilitating the transition. He noted that the move aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening teacher education in the country.
“It is an opportunity for the Federal Government to honour Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who pioneered the revolutionary free education programme in Western Nigeria, and Dr. Tai Solarin, who dedicated his life to educating young Nigerians and instilling patriotic values,” President Tinubu stated.
He also acknowledged the role of the Awujale of Ijebuland in preserving TASUED’s legacy, referencing the monarch’s crucial intervention in preventing the university’s closure in 2012.
With TASUED’s new status, the Federal Government now directly oversees three Universities of Education: Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education in Owerri, Adeyemi Federal University of Education in Ondo, and the newly acquired TASUED in Ogun State.
The transition is expected to bring improved funding, enhanced academic programmes, and greater opportunities for both students and faculty members.

February 14, 2025, marks the 13th anniversary of the tragic loss of Olatunji Fashina, fondly known as Humble TJ, a fearless student leader who paid the ultimate price in the fight to save Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) from merger and scrapping under the administration of former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
For over a decade, the TASUED community has turned what the world celebrates as Valentine’s Day into a solemn day of remembrance—honoring the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of Humble TJ. This year, the commemoration took on a new dimension as the Students Union Government (SUG) introduced a scholarship in his name, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire generations of students.
The prestigious scholarship was awarded to Temiloluwa Rachael Ogunsanwo, a 300-level Mathematics student with a remarkable 5.00 CGPA, recognizing her outstanding academic performance and dedication to excellence. This initiative, pioneered by the 17th SUG administration under the leadership of President Comrade Abidakun Tomide Micheal, seeks to immortalize the name of Humble TJ in a way that empowers future leaders.
Adding a significant gesture to this act of remembrance, Dr. Ishola Adebayo of the Department of Educational Technology, a frontline activist in the historic #OccupyTASUED protest that saved the institution, has pledged to cover the tuition fees of the scholarship recipient. His unwavering commitment to comradeship, academic advancement, and student advocacy exemplifies the very ideals that Humble TJ stood for.
As TASUED gathers to honor its fallen hero, the message remains clear—his sacrifice was not in vain. The spirit of activism, courage, and resilience he embodied continues to thrive in the hearts of students and alumni. The fight he led to protect the university’s autonomy has not only secured the institution’s existence but also strengthened the collective resolve of the TASUED community.
Today, as banners fly high and tributes pour in, we say once again: Rest in power, Humble TJ. Your bravery echoes through time, and your legacy remains unshaken.
The Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Prof. Oluwole Banjo, accompanied by members of the university management team, paid a visit to the ongoing 120-hour Sew-A-Thon challenge in Ijebu Ode. The event, led by TASUED alumnus Koil Creation, has captured widespread attention as he aims to break a Guinness World Record by hand-sewing multiple outfits using only a needle and thread.
During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor commended Koil Creation for his exceptional dedication and creativity, describing his effort as an embodiment of the values TASUED instills in its students. He highlighted the significance of the sew-a-thon, not just as a record-breaking attempt, but as a celebration of African heritage and craftsmanship.
The management team expressed their admiration for the intricate outfits Koil Creation had completed so far, including a full Agbada, Danshiki, Kimono, and Long Gown—all of which reflect the rich cultural traditions of Africa.
“This initiative is a remarkable blend of talent, culture, and endurance,” Prof. Banjo remarked. “It serves as an inspiration to young creatives, showcasing what can be achieved through determination and passion.”
The Vice-Chancellor assured Koil Creation of the university’s unwavering support and urged the public to join in celebrating this historic feat. The Sew-A-Thon continues to gain momentum, attracting both local and international recognition as Koil Creation pushes closer to the 120-hour mark.
