Updated: Finally, ASUU Suspends its 8Months Old Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its eight month strike, Campus Catch NG has confirmed.

The decision was taken unanimously by members of its National Executive Council after a lengthy six hour meeting which began on Thursday night.

Speaking to our correspondent after the meeting, a member who requested anonymity said the outcome was positive and the final decision was adoption based on how the branches voted. He also hinted that students have waited long enough and can return to class once again.

When ASUU president Prof. Emmanuel Oedeke was reached, he only briefed that “We (ASUU) will release an official memo today (Friday)” and also adding that the ‘result is is not a bad one’

Full details of the agreement between the union and the federal government that led to the suspension of the strike are expected in a press conference after today.
