EXAM SHOULD BE POSTPONED SAYS Sen. WASIU ABIOLA

    0

A student of Tai Solarin University of Education identify as Sen Wasiu Abiola Ibrahim PKA ENNYWEALTH took to social media (WhatsApp), stating reason the first semester Examinations for 2018/2019 academic session should be postponed.

His agitation was based on the fact that the time provided for students to prepare for the exam was short has the exams timetable was released two days before the stipulated date for commencement of exam.

Below are unedited five reasons he listed for the postponement of the exam.

    1. The short time notice of the Examination

The Official examination Timetable was released on Saturday Morning that means we were given just one or two days to prepare which is not supposed to be so as most students don’t read unless they see the timetable.

    2. Inconsistency in the timetable released

I believed we all saw the first timetable that was released which was not adjusted and again the OFFICIAL ONE that was released on Friday Night was not even adjust…If you check it very well one course is being mentioned twice and even exam were said to be holding on Saturdays and Sundays which isn’t the official day for an exam to hold.

    3. Our appeal and quest for the reconduction of e-test has not been received

Come to think of it when the e-test was conducted The CEC and SHS concluded that Students that didn’t pertake in the test should submit their school fee receipt after payment…Do u know more than 1500 Students submitted their receipt to the Sug building …that means almost 30 to 40% of the 100 and 200 level Students are yet to their E-test and we all know without Test in TASUED if you sit for any Exam that’s Technical Failure TF

    4. STUDENT PREPAREDNESS FOR THE E-TEST

Do you know some Lecturers were telling the Students that there will be Lecturers on the 18th to 25th, that alone tell u that the Lecturers were not even aware of the released timetable and moreover how many Lecturers were given to this Students especially 100L Students…There was a department that was given over 80 pages of handout just this Friday how do they want them to start assimilating such notes within some days…

    5. PRINTING OF JAMB ADMISSION LETTER WITHHELD

This particularly is for the 100L Students that has not been offered admission yet by jamb and that alone was why they hadn’t submitted their green file and you know without the CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE you can not venture into the examination Hall…

TASUED VC One Year in Office, Promises Modern Mathematics Laboratory for TASUESS

    0

TASUED VC – In his desire to make the study of mathematics more friendly and practical to students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has promised to, personally, build a modern Mathematics Laboratory for students of Tai Solarin University of Education Secondary School (TASUESS), which is part of the activities marking his one year in office.

The Vice-Chancellor made this pledge during an interactive session with staff and students of the school which kickstarted the activities lined up to commemorate his one year in office as the fourth and first indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the premier University of Education in Nigeria.

He noted that as a Professor of mathematics, this gesture became imperative because of his desire to change the misconceptions of students that the subject is difficult to pass and to also make the study and learning of mathematics more friendly and affable to students of TASUESS.

Apart from this gesture, the Vice Chancellor also promised that the University Management will deliver a new dimension in modern day education through the proposed Smart Classroom, which is a technology-driven classroom.

In addition to this, TASUESS, as a subsidiary of the University, was also promised an uninterrupted ICT service that will be accessible to both staff and students. TASUED VC

The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed that the reason why he chose TASUESS as his first port of call during this celebration was borne out of the importance the University Management placed on the school “as one of the foundation members that established the school, I also feel proud seeing the seedlings planted years back, now enjoying tremendous growth. This makes me happy always”, he added. TASUED VC

Prof. Arigbabu, however, commended the staff of the school for their dedication and commitment towards the continued brilliant performance of the students, with an assurance that the University Management will leave no stone unturned in giving them excellent welfare package within the limited resources available to the school.

In her remarks at the interactive session, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Olaniyan commended the Vice Chancellor for his demonstrable support to the school since inception while also highlighting the numerous academic achievements the school has recorded in recent times.
The latest of such achievement was the installation of a-5KVA solar power inverter constructed by the Physics teacher of the school, in collaboration with some of his students.

The highpoint of the event was the interactive session by the staff and students of TASUED Secondary School with the Management team of the University. TASUED VC

Other guests at the event were members of the Board of Governors of the school led by Dr. Dele Sogbesan. Others include Dr. Olufunke Ekine, PTA Chairman, Mr. Demola Adesanya amongst others. TASUED VC

AMODEDUN: TASUED Computer Science Students Launch another event tech revolution in Nigeria

    0

Joining the event planning industry in Nigeria, is Amodedun, a platform that makes you an event planner yourself by providing all you need to plan an event.

The Amodedun platform is build to be the largest directory of event vendors towards helping people plan event with less hassle from end to end.

Bold, strong, bright minds, strategic thinkers, Olaogun James Eniola, Onilude Segun Michael, and Awofodu Samuel Oluwatimileyin, 300 level, Computer Science Students from Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu-ode.

In February, 2019, James, Segun and Samuel kicked-start their brand “Amodedun” with the view to make the event a reality and also contributing to the ongoing tech revolution in Ogun State and in Nigeria as a whole.

As an event planner, I’d log on to the platform, set parameters like the event type and description, number of attendees, date, location and budget, the platform gives a list of vendors whose criteria tally with the parameters searched for. Once you click ‘plan event’, every vendor that fits into my search query gets a notification in order to bid for my event.

we consider amodedun as a “total package event planners” that drives to end the struggle of event planning and make the event a reality.

In a quest to stand on their own, this three founders went on crucial search on the major problems event planners and vendors clients face during the process of having the best event of their taste. This journey make us also discover that lot of the vendors do not know how to market their businesses, so we decided to serve as a link to help put the vendors out there, to market their business and also satisfy the users at a low cost.

Amodedun, we make the events a reality. We create for our users and vendors convenience.

“We are a new brand; so yes we are  bound to face challenges, it’s like a spice and also a motivation for the brand, James stated. We face challenges as students, electric supply, data usage and also communication gap, explained James.

Our major driving force has been the society, the government don’t really help much these days, it is your talent that sells more along with God’s divine direction, we as a team work magic, James said.

“As young entrepreneur we have taken up the task to build ourselves, so we read books and work according to the 80/20% principle, a corner stone of result based living, the secret to achieving more with less, and the response from the public has been encouraging, we are just starting, so more is yet to come” Samuel motioned.

Directory: they provide a directory for users to search for vendors, even based on parameters like the number of expected guests, location of the event, type of event among others. Amodedun designed the vendors’ profiles to serve as mini website for individual vendors.

Hot deals: this feature gives vendors an opportunity to showcase their special offers on the hot deals page which is an aggregation of deals for people to see and possibly purchase. With this, the vendors not only put up their services but get more by providing hot deals.

On this journey, Olaogun James Eniola assumed the role of creative director, while Onilude Segun Michael has supported as project manager, and Awofodu Samuel Oluwatimileyin as head engineer. Catch this creative minds on Instagram, facebook, twitter @Amodedun.

We have always looked out for the pacesetters from TASUED and we found “PickMeUp” a brand co-founded by Abimbola Moses Adeitan and Oretuga Adewale, young tech graduates of our prestigious school, Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), who were recently featured on the largest online tech platfrom in Africa Techpoint with there startup journey.

They relocated to Abeokuta from Lagos to kick-start their entrepreneurial career
(pickmeup.com.ng, a laundry and logistics service), we are always proud of them. It shows that every product of TASUED are extra-ordinary on their various.

With the existence of Amodedun, what happens to those in the business of events planning? The possible scenario is them coming on board those platforms or what do you think?

AZ Beauty Touch, the best among other Beauty Salon in TASUED

    0

WHEN you think hairdressing, you naturally think women and nothing more. But that isn’t the case of AZ Beauty Touch as they continue to give other beauty salon in Tai Solarin University of Education Community a real run for their money.

A visit by The OWL Campus Media to their beauty hubs in front of the University gate proved this.

Interestingly, they do not really have luxurious shops to steal the hearts of customers, but their creativity and eyes for details other hairstylist who has got a shop near them could folds up in no time or branches into other trades to stay relevant and earn a living.

Attention to detail: “I think they pay more attention to detail.

After spending enough time in the hub and engaging with the Creative Director himself, Anjorin Azeez Temilade, a final year student of Tasued from the department of biological Science, College of Science and information Technology, we believe that their ability to listen to customers and give them what they want is what makes him special.

He said “We always follow trends to know exactly what is reigning and how to perfectly make them. Most students come with styles they found on Instagram and Google, and they are always in search of a stylist who can give them exactly the same styles. I always try to do my best by making sure I follow trends as well.

“Because I am a guy, I like good things. So when I see a girl who doesn’t look good, I don’t like it. I want her to look good, so, I give my best. Every day, I also try to improve on my techniques to be able to compete favourably in the field.

“I’m most particular about finishing. Some people do not understand how to close weave-ons properly. Thus, I focus on that part because it’s what people see first. I make sure that whenever I am closing a parting, I give it all of my time. I look at it as if I am the one who wants to wear that look.

    Challenges

But things aren’t all rosy with male hair dressers; many of us suffer sexual harassments and are perceived as gay in extreme cases. It’s actually very common to hear cases of customers making sexual advances at them.

You must have self-control to be able to ignore when any part of woman’s body are exposed in the course of you treating her well. I don’t mix work with pleasure. So, I just had to develop a thick skin.
