The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has announced the conferment of Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) Degrees on four eminent Nigerians in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to society. This event is set to take place during TASUED’s 16th Convocation Ceremony in November 2024. Each of the honorees has made a significant impact within their fields, exemplifying leadership, dedication, and a commitment to societal progress.

1. Barrister Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi
Award: Doctor of Science in Entrepreneurship
Achievements: Barrister Afolabi, a visionary entrepreneur and accomplished lawyer, is the founder and CEO of SIFAX Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in maritime, aviation, haulage, hospitality, financial services, oil and gas. His exceptional business acumen has propelled SIFAX to the forefront of various sectors, establishing Afolabi as one of Nigeria’s most influential Indigenous entrepreneurs.
2. Prince (Dr.) Oluyemisi Adedoyin Shyllon
Award: Doctor of Science in Creative Arts
Achievements: Prince Shyllon is a multifaceted professional with qualifications in Engineering, Law, and Stockbroking. He is widely recognized as one of Africa’s most prominent art collectors and a passionate advocate for Nigerian arts and culture. His dedication to promoting Nigerian arts on the global stage has earned him a reputation as a leading figure in the arts community.
3. Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo
Award: Doctor of Science in Clothing and Textiles
Achievements: A pioneer in Nigeria’s textile and fashion industry, Otunba Taiwo is a celebrated entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community icon. His innovative designs have received international acclaim, and his leadership as the National President of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN) reflects his commitment to excellence in the industry. He is also the founder of Wessy College of Arts and Technology, Abeokuta.
4. Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi
Award: Doctor of Science in Hospitality Management
Achievements: With a background in Petroleum Engineering, Engr. Sanusi is a visionary entrepreneur whose business interests span across oil and gas, education, agriculture, and hospitality. His ventures, including the renowned Ilaji Hotels and Holiday Resorts, showcase his dedication to industry excellence. His ongoing support for TASUED’s student leadership programs further reflects his commitment to education and societal growth.
