TASUED Produces 18 First Class, Graduates 5,153

The Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED Ijagun, Ogun State, Prof. Oluwole Banjo has announced that 18 students have distinguished themselves by attaining first-class honors out of  5,153 graduating students at the combined convocation of the 13th, 14th, and 15th ceremonies. 

The VC also said that  159 students will be awarded master’s degrees, 60 with Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and 30 with Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD). 

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this on Wednesday at a press conference held in preparation for the combined convocation. 

Prof. Banjo hinted that the highlight of this year’s convocation is the conferment of an Honorary Degree on Dr. Tunde Lemo, a distinguished figure who has served as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and as the former President of the TASUED Trust Foundation.

According to the VC,  this recognition underscores Dr. Lemo’s exceptional contributions to the fields of finance and education.

He stated that the university takes pride in its infrastructural developments, with the commissioning of the Crystal Building, an advanced ICT-based research and teaching facility. 

He added that the Alumni Building, a 2000-seater capacity lecture theatre generously donated to the university, will be unveiled during the ceremonies. 

According to him, these structures signify TASUED’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities for both research and teaching.

He said in the realm of research and development, TASUED has made significant strides. 

Prof  Banjo said the Institute of Vocational Training and Research in Agriculture, in collaboration with the Federal Government, has established an agro-processing factory, contributing to the nation’s efforts towards achieving food security. 

“Partnerships with organizations like the Teachers Registration Council ensure that TASUED graduates become certified members of the council upon graduation.

“The establishment of the College of Agricultural Sciences adds another dimension to the university’s academic offerings.

“This year Honourary Degree would be bestowed on Dr Tunde Lemo, former CBN Deputy Governor and former President TASUED Trust Foundation. 

“In the realm of infrastructure, ongoing projects at various levels of construction have significantly enhanced the university’s development. 

“During these ceremonies, we’ll witness the commissioning of the Crystal Building, an ICT-based research and teaching facility, along with the Alumni Building, a 2000-seater capacity lecture theatre generously donated to the university.

“The university has also excelled in research, training, and manpower development. Notably, the Institute of Vocational Training and Research in Agriculture recently collaborated with the Federal Government to establish an agro-processing factory, contributing to the nation’s strive for food security.

“Moreover, partnerships with organizations like the Teachers Registration Council have ensured our graduates become certified members of the council upon graduation. The establishment of the College of Agricultural Sciences is another milestone, adding to the university’s diverse academic offerings.

“On the issue of security, the university has faced challenges, but prompt interventions from the university’s Visitor and the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON have ensured the safety of our students and staff.

Addressing the issue of security challenges faced by the university, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the prompt interventions from the university’s Visitor and the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun. 

He said these interventions have played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of students and staff.

In response to the changing economic landscape brought about by the removal of the Fuel subsidy,  he said TASUED has implemented a two-installment payment plan for school fees to alleviate the financial burden on students.

” The institution’s work-study program provides students with an opportunity to work on campus while pursuing their studies, contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive educational environment.
