Digital Skill and Employability MasterClass E-Review.
In kick starting this E-REVIEW, we should take a cue on why this is necessary.
We are aware the world plays host to an array of clicks and mix; everyone having a hub and system by which he/she is being influenced and nurtured.
We are an individual and independent, yet a group and dependent. And interestingly, the value of every group adds up to the overall efficiency and outcome.
Howbeit, we must be bent on contributing to our own sphere of influence whilst ensuring that everyone lives excellently, purposefully and achieving.
And in this case, we are committed to ignite, stir and amplify the consciousness and value bank of everyone within our reach.
Seeing how times change spontaneously and how techniques and systems are being disrupted, it is necessary that any serious minded person keeps up with the new age ideas and technology while he purposefully excel in His strength and Faith. Yes! I just said Faith.
The Masterclass covered presentations that are exact and fitting for an individual’s personal, professional and perhaps, overall development.
The focus was on the advantage of digital literacy in the 21st century by Onilude Segun; Lessons from my Business Experience by Toyosola Amuludun; the How and Benefit of having an Employable CV by Olusola A. Osibote and; Relevant Soft (Skills) for the workspace by James Olaogun.
But in between all of this, we would definitely stop over other issues of concern. We should also see a gallery of some of the fruits from the Masterclass.
Indeed, it would be a worthy record to learn something new or get a reminder on something you have known to work but lost sight of at a point.
In the end, we should be having a classroom situation here in our digital space. We should be better positioned and equipped for a more value driven, value adding and great usability in our professional life.
With these few thoughts, we hope we now have a better grasp on the objective of the E-REVIEW.
It is simply to ignite, stir and amplify our consciousness and value bank as touching our professional space.

‘Victora Ascerta’ was the closure used by the 12th Tai Solarin University of Education Students’ Union President in person of Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan (LAS) in the publication released on the 12th of November, 2019 titled “Rejoinder and Resolution on the State of Matters” in which he used to inform TASUEDites the decision of the university management, students union and shuttle drivers regarding the declaration made by the leadership of the students union on the 9th of November, 2019 about ‘A Week Lecture Free Break’ due to the incessant abuse and assault of students by the shuttle drivers.
Sincerely speaking, the leadership of TASUEDSU deserves some accolades for taken the bull by the horns.
It’s not a surprise that the free week lecture break declared by the students union doesn’t reach 48hours because Monday(11/11/19) was declared public holiday and the lecture free is non and void on Tuesday (12/11/19).
Some students, comrades and Association of Departmental Presidents of TASUED (DEPOT) criticized the lecture free declared by the students union heavily!
Some students are asking, what does the students union leaders gained, after the reversal?
First of all, They gained prompt response from the management and they’re able to prove to the shuttle drivers that they’re in charge by making them to dance to their tune.
‘It’s easier said than done”… All the demands made by the students union leaders can they stand the test of time?
Although, their effort is not futile because they achieved 80% and they’re making the social media buzz and students also have the opportunity to travel and return as soon as possible because of consequences.
No More Free Week Lecture Break, Transport Price Remain The Same; LAS-LAS wey tin TASUEDites gain?

The leadership of the Tai Solarin University of Education Students Union have held several meetings with the university authority and the leadership of shuttle dirvers.
On Monday, 11th and Tuesday, 12th of November 2019 in the meetings spearheaded by the Dean of Students Affairs, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor respectively, the Students Union leadership made some basic demands which are that:
All shuttle drivers must present medical fitness test results before they shall operate on campus.
All shuttle drivers must present Vehicle Inspection certificate of road worthiness.
All vehicles must be registered and certified to be road worthy to convey Students by the Students Union.
All vehicles must provide drivers licence.
All shuttles must now load on campus considerably with the exception of Anglican Juncture.
Any driver that is reported and found guilty of assaulting or harassing students shall stand indefinitely suspended.
The students Union shall be represented in the committee on transportation of the campus.
Transportation cost shall be reduced to #50.
Invariably, all of these demands were equally supported by the University Vice Chancellor and the management team who all share our sentiments.
The leadership of the shuttle drivers were logically dragged to agree with all of these demands except for the cost.
The University authority then brought up the idea of setting up a committee to formalise the demands that has been agreed to and to review the only contentious demands.
Objectively, our demands as been agreed to give us a prospective victory of the last core demands under contention.
As objective Students Union leaders and partner in progress, having realized that the University being the number one versity with stable running system understands that we cannot afford to put the activities of the campus to a halt, we therefore appealed that test and attendance should not be conducted nor taken by the lecturers for the rest of this week. The Deputy Vice Chancellor, equally gave his consent to this request wish we quite appreciate and commend as a union.
We appreciate the effort of the university Vice chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor and ASUU for solidarising with us and giving an edge in the struggle.
Apparantly, our voices have been heard and our demands have being achieved with the only contentious goal in view, we therefore use this medium to inform the students populace that the lecture free week declared by the Union has been reversed as students who are and will be affected by this new reversal are assured that the school authority has magnanimously assured us that they won’t have a course for regret.
Finally, we appreciate all pedagogical heroes for standing by us. We reiterate that our collective interest is our utmost priority.
Victora Ascerta!
Signed:
SONEYE Abdul-Azeez Lekan ( LAS)
TASUEDSU President.
The Students Union leadership has
received several complaints on our decision to boycott lecture and transportation in the new week. And for record purpose, it is necessary to clarify the reasons behind the decision of the Union.
Before we were inaugurated, we had received all sorts of reports from students about the excesses of the campus shuttle drivers such as harrassment of students, assault on students and even cases of threat with juju and jazz. And on several occasions whenever we get the report and move down to the scene of events, these shuttle drivers would always put up lies and cover up for themselves. We therefore resolved as a team that we won’t introduce ourselves as Executives to these shuttle drivers perhaps such of these act would be put up against us.
On Monday 4th of November 2019, myself, Senate President and some executives were coming from town when a controversy developed as the shuttle driver stopped on the expressway. I had to maintain peace and calmness against the wish of the students in the bus until I gave the driver and extra #100. To my surprise, this driver find it difficult to give me change until the students at the gate started greeting and he realized my position in the Union whence he started apologizing for his wrongdoing claiming he didnt know.
On Tuesday, the incident repeated itself again as this shuttle driver stopped on a highway again. The passengers started raising alarm when they saw an oncoming truck. This required the passengers to come down from the bus instantly but unfortunately the bus was too bad that the door couldn’t be opened from within. So the Welfare Director had to jump down through the window of the bus to open from outside to set the other students inside free. I was called upon on the matter and I asked the welfare director to hold on to the money. We were called by the DSA as the matter had gotten to his table. We were asked to refund the money back to the University director of Transport Unit. When we got to the office of the director, he didn’t listened to us but only demanded for the money. So I asked that not until the driver of th shuttle is called upon to come and give his explanation before us, we won’t handover the money. The director started raising voice threatening us that we would b dealt with if he take the issue up officially which we asked him to do as it was obvious he is conniving with these shuttle drivers probably because he was getting return from them.
Eventually, the DSA called the Union leaders and the leadership of the shuttle drivers to a meeting at the Students Affairs office were all cases were raised. It became more glaring that these shuttle drivers are truly becoming untouchable as they were able to maintain their stand that their driver had not done anything wrong as the #50 worth more than the life of the 18 students in the bus. It became worse when they pointed out they couldn’t treat us specially because we haven’t introduced ourselves as exco to them since we have been innaugurated. This point y e Senate President bluntly rebuked that we didn’t need to be Union officers before we would be treated as human being and that the lives of every students is as precious as our own lives. We were later pacified and asked to put our demands in document.
The meeting of the parliament was slated for Friday and the issue of transportation was to be discussed. While the meeting was on going, we were called that some of our students are being harrassed by the shuttle drivers again. Myself, the Senate President and few other comrades had to rush down to their park at Lagos garage in town.
Evidently, the shuttle drivers leadership indeed defended their member. We tried all our best possible to resolve the issue amicably but they started threatening us that they will use the school authority against us and equally use charm on us.
And indeed, on our way back, their charm did work out as we encountered an accident that almost claim the life of the Senate President who lost consciousness at the school medical centre before the intervention of the doctors. We were still receiving treatment when the Dean Of Students Affairs called that he was informed that we went to the park to disrupt their activities there. I took the pain to explain all over what had transpired.
Few minutes later, I had to rush out of the bed to calm the situation of things at the school gate as I was informed that the students were building up population to retaliate. This I personally oversaw to ensure there was no chaos and not even the activities of the shuttle drivers was interrupted.
While on bed, we received another call that the Students Union Vice President has been beaten up by another shuttle driver.
In all of these, the leadership of The Students Union still put in all effort to maintaining peace and stability with the hope that adequate measures will be taken with immidiate effect.
As responsible Students Unions leaders, it becomes imperative for us to protect the interest of our students. Equally as advocate of peace and stability, we deem it necessary that we do not want to engage ourselves in garage boys like manner.
In view of these, we therefore decided to ask our students to sit back in their various hostels pending the time a lasting solution would be provided as we cannot guarantee the safety of our students who would have no choice but to board these shuttles. Equally, we cannot guy that peace would remain should any student is harrassed any moment from now. Hence, our peaceful decision and engagement.
In short, these are our demands that can resolve all of these crisis in due time;
1 That the transport fare should be reversed to #50 from #70 as the extortive #20 excess is the reason behind these conflicts.
2 All drivers must register their vehicles with the Students Union for road worthiness verification.
A week lecture free break declared by the Tai Solarin University of Education Students' Union (TASUEDSU) TEAM LAS'19 has generated a lot of controversy!
Comrade Anas Michael (Dre_Lamar) just write an “Open letter to TEAM LAS & TASUEDITES”.
“I believed that
an injury to one is an injury to all and with that being said, the measures in which the SUG has put in place to to declare a state of emergency and also to declare a lecture free week would’ve been a laudable attempt only if this decision was reached unanimously between the SUG, OTHER EXECUTIVES AND THE SCHOOL AUTHORITIES there’s no other way to see or describe the SUG’s recent declarations on campus, IT IS GROSSLY IMPROPER TO DISRUPT SCHOOL ACTIVITIES WITHOUT ADEQUATE PERMISSIONS,
The school authorities seem quiet about this but truth be told, no one knows their next move, SUG has deviated/breached one of the laws of their associations on campus and there are bound to be asymetric information as regards the future course of activities in the university ..and this will affect students greatly, especially those on “Teaching practice”
I’ll like everyone to see this as a note of sensitization, and also to implore us to focus on our daily routine, prepare and go for classes and those on teaching practice all over OGUN STATE should report to their various centers.
SUG’S DECLARATION ISN’T UNANIMOUS WITH THE SCHOOL AUTHORITIES !!!
I’m not insinuating anything but
“where two elephants wrestle, the grass they say, suffers the most”
ALUTA CONTINUA!!!
VICTORIA ASCERTA!!!
