    The Picker-Die crooner, popularly known as Saint HayWhy a final year student of Tai Solarin University of Education win a cash prize and free studio session.

    Saint HayWhy was announced as the first runner-up on the 4th of February 2020, in the just concluded freestyle contest tagged ‘Foti Challenge‘ hosted by Badmus Akeem.O (BaddyOosha) He emerged as the first runner-up after he shows proficiency in the music industry across three stages of the challenge with over One hundred (upcoming artists) contestants.

    Saint HayWhy, was announced the first runner up with a cash prize of one hundred thousand Naira (#100,000) with a free studio session.

    He took to his official Instagram page to express his profound gratitude, “foremostly, I thank God for the privilege he gave me to be among the winners of @baddyoosha FOTI CHALLENGE. And as well, I say thank you to all my fans and supporters everywhere I know and everywhere I don’t know… “

    One of the five colleges in Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), College of Science and Information Technology (COSIT) Students’ Association (COSITSA) appoint Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

    Ojo Omotoyosi Juliana, is a 100 level student’s appointed by the President of College of Science and Information Technology Students’ Association (COSITSA) in person of Comr.Mbah Emeka Patrick.

    Juliana said, she was given an appointment letter for the office of S.A on Media and Publicity to the COSITSA President. She said, “My aim is to serve my college with all humanitarian strength, moreover this is a test of my capability as an 100 level student”.

    She promise to improve the media publicity of the association for the betterment of students and make the college great amongst others.

    TV5 WORLD INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM DEBUTS IN TASUED

    In its drive to be compliant with the best world practices in the teaching and learning of French Language, the Department of French Language of the University was recently linked to the TV5 World Educational Platform.

    The Programme trainer, TV5 World Educational, Madame Oluyinka Bello urged participants to take advantage of the modern technology in the learning and teaching of French in schools, adding that the era of using cardboard and other traditional materials as teaching aids is gone, as there are many modern-day teaching aids like audiovisual materials which can aid knowledge.

    Madame Bello, who is a retired Permanent Secretary in Lagos State further noted that with the use of TV5 materials, students of French Language will be more proficient in the language and allow students to be more relevant globally because of the duality of language

    In his submission at the occasion, the Head of Department of French, Dr Femi Babatunde commended TV5 Worldwide for bringing the platform to TASUED, noting that “this pedagogical approach focuses on the oral as well as the use of sound media whether still or moving images, especially dialogues as a starting point for lessons”.

    The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, thereafter, urged students to integrate themselves into the use of audiovisual for effective teaching, with an assurance that the University Management will not hesitate in giving full support for the take-off of the project.

    TASUED SU President Begins Social Media Protest

    The President of Tai Solarin University of Education Students’ Union, Com. Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan (LAS) has issued out a press release titled “A Call For Media Protest”
    “It is disheartening to state at this period in human development that we still lose so many lives to tragic accidents that are preventable but for the poor roads in the country.

    For those who travel along, Ijebu-Ode expressway linking Abeokuta/Ibadan, they should be familiar with the three bridges in Odoogbolu local government area. The three bridges, despite being over small running water, consumes lives of many infrequent times than normal. Several incidents of accidents are recorded on that road, leading to the death of many.

    In the last four to five months, tens of lives have been lost over those bridges. Just today, Tuesday, 28th of January, 2020, fifteen(15) lives were lost and thirty-eighty(38) injured according to the reports in the media.

    Before this river starts claiming the lives of Nigerians students, it becomes necessary to act fast and call the attention of the federal government to their responsibility and find a lasting solution to the dilapidated state of these bridges which is causing the accidents.

    COSPED DEAN, PROF. OLADIPO WINS N12M TETFUND RESEARCH GRANT FOR THE UNIVERSITY

    COSPED DEAN – The Dean of the College of Specialised and Professional Education (COSPED), who also doubles as the Director,  Directorate of Research and External Relations of the University, Prof. Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo has won the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) research grant for the University.

    According to a correspondence signed by the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, where he commended TASUED as an Institution and Prof. Oladipo in particular, for winning the TETFUND NATIONAL RESEARCH FUND (NRF) INTERVENTION grant valued at 12.6 Million Naira, further noted that the scholarship in Prof. Oladipo is unparalleled.

    He disclosed that the grant was in line with the mandate of TETFUND and its commitment to promote and support impactful research activities in Public Tertiary Educational Institutions.

    The research which  is  titled: “Development and Validation of Psycho – Educational Counseling Intervention Programme to Enhance Post – Abuse and Post – Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD ) Coping of Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse in Nigeria  is expected to be completed within a period of 24 months.

    In a related development, Prof. Oladipo was among the 33 participants sponsored from different public Universities in Nigeria to Dubai, United Arab Emirates for a training workshop organised by TETFUND in December 2019,  which was meant to enhance educational development of the country.

    The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu (FMAN) has, therefore,  congratulated Prof. Oladipo for achieving this academic feat with a plea to other  teaching staff of the University to emulate this achievement.

    How we would Spend the 500,000 Naira Takeoff Grant. – TASUED SU President

    Takeoff Grant – After several days of keeping mute, the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode Union’s president Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan through the office of the Students Union general secretary has confirmed receiving the sum of five hundred thousand Naira (500,000) from the University management, the clarification became necessary in view of various articles and rumour on and off social media about the money.

    The president in a press statement released last night, a copy which was received by Owl Campus correspondent explained why they were given and what they planned to use it for. The takeoff grant is money given to new administration for the effective running of the union, on what they would use it for, he said

    “We have identified the construction of toilet as most important it becomes our first options. We are already in talks with the department of works and directorate of physical planning to allocate space for us for the construction of the project. Once this is done, work shall commence with immediate effect”.

    The OO1 solicited for people’s idea, criticism towards his administration and also thanked them for the unflinching support so far.

    UK-BASED HEALTH PROVIDER DONATES DIALYSIS MACHINE TO TASUED

    A UK-based care services provider, Adex Care recently donated a Dialysis Machine to the University’ Health Centre.

    The machine which is meant for patients with renal function impairment (kidney failure), would further boost the status of the University Health Centre and as well cater for people with kidney-related ailments.

    The donor, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Adex Care and a friend of the University, Mr. Michael Adekoya donated the machine through the former Acting Registrar of the University, Mr Francis Odutuga,who also facilitated the donation.

    While receiving the machine in his office, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu commended Adex Care for its generous donation to the University, adding that, Universities around the world thrive through grants and donations which is a form Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

    He, therefore, called on corporate bodies, organisations as well as individuals who are blessed to, as a matter of commitment, work towards a secured future for the nation’s youths.

    In attendance at the presentation were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wole Banjo, Acting Registrar, Mr. Tunde Oduwole, Deputy Registrar, Mr. Francis Odutuga, Director of Medical Services, Dr. Gbenga Okusanya and the Head of Pharmacy, Pharmacist Olulanu Osiyale among others.
