At nearly 50, Nigerian gospel artist Segun Obe found love and recently married his Ghanaian soulmate, Nita. Their love story began five years ago in the most unexpected way—online. Nita stumbled upon Segun’s ministration and was captivated by his voice and message. Little did they know, that moment would be the start of a journey leading to a lifetime of love.
A Chance Meeting Turned Love Story
When asked how he met Nita, Segun shared, “My partner heard about my voice training workshop, ‘Voice It Out with Segun Obe,’ and she came all the way from Canada to attend one of the editions. I was super touched by this gesture and kept in touch with her. Our chats felt like conversations between old friends; they flowed naturally. Her humility and deep knowledge of God and His word also wowed me. This went on for about four years, and as they say, ‘the rest is history.'”

Finding Love Later in Life
Finding love later in life comes with its own set of perspectives. Segun, who will be 50 this October, reflected on the timing of their union. “The good thing about getting married at my age is that you have seen life in its fullness, and nothing ‘shacks’ you again. At that age, you make holistic decisions. It’s no longer about body shape but more about connection and deep feelings. Any regrets marrying at this age for me? NONE WHATSOEVER.”
The Role of Faith
For Segun, faith played a pivotal role in his decision to marry Nita. “God’s ways are NOT our ways, neither are His thoughts our thoughts. God speaks to my spirit, and I hear it loud and clear. When I hear from my Heavenly Father, I run with it. I knew exactly what I wanted in my wife, and she checked all the boxes. Very considerate, down-to-earth, caring, loves the Lord with her whole heart. My spirit told me it was time, and I made my move—simple.”

Handling Pressure and Waiting for the Right Time
Like many, Segun faced pressure to get married, but he stood firm in his convictions. “Pressure was my middle name during that period, but I knew what I wanted and never allowed the pressure to prevail. I would rather have a peaceful home than a home full of war just because I wanted to marry early. Nita is my peace, and I am glad I waited. Even though it was a painful process, nothing good comes out of comfort zones.”
Nita’s Perspective: A Meeting Ordained by God
Nita shared her side of the story, saying, “I first came to know of Segun Obe when I saw him minister a song at his church in November 2019 online. I was so blessed by how God used him. Back in April 2020, I decided to fly out to Nigeria to attend a vocal training session called ‘Voice It Out,’ facilitated by Segun. I went and had the best time ever! There was also an opportunity to meet Segun. We talked, and over time, our friendship grew. Today, the rest is history. To God be the Glory.”

Their photos exude pure warmth and joy, capturing moments that will undoubtedly bring smiles to those who witness their love story.

University life is an exciting chapter for many fresh undergraduates. New experiences, opportunities, and friendships await. However, amidst all the excitement, it’s crucial to be aware of the social dynamics at play, especially for those unfamiliar with the university environment. The tertiary trend known as ‘Operation Catch Them Young’ highlights the importance of orienting new students at the beginning of a session. While it can be informative, it can also be a playground for returning students, particularly males, to take advantage of female freshers.
To help you navigate these waters, we’ve identified five types of students to be cautious of. Here’s a roadmap to discovering and avoiding these potentially problematic characters:
Violent individuals may not have a warning label on their forehead, but they’re often easy to spot. These students, sometimes referred to as the “happening guys,” have noticeable trademarks like a distinct manner of speech, unique hairstyles, bold walking styles, and other eye-catching behaviors. While they may seem charismatic, they often skip classes and are associated with cults or gangs looking to recruit new members, especially freshers. These students may engage in harmful activities, including drug use and aggressive behavior, making it crucial for you to avoid their circle.

How to Avoid Them:
Like the saying “a green snake under green grass,” passive students might seem harmless at first. They keep to themselves, rarely participate in class discussions, but still manage to pass exams. This can be suspicious as it may indicate involvement in unethical activities, including being hidden members of cults. Despite their low profile, they can be dangerous due to their secretive nature.
How to Avoid Them:

Known as the “Popular Jingo,” these students are heavily involved in social activities and are recognized by almost everyone on campus. Their popularity, while seemingly harmless, can attract unwanted attention and danger. They are often involved in campus politics or social affairs, which can make them vulnerable to conflicts and rivalry.

How to Avoid Them:
Fashion is great, but for some students, it becomes an obsession that overrides their academic responsibilities. These students are always dressed in the latest trends and will go to any length to maintain their image. They might misuse school fees or departmental fees for fashion items, which can lead them down dangerous paths, including engaging in questionable activities to sustain their lifestyle.
How to Avoid Them:
These students present themselves as helpers, offering to guide you through the university maze. They may offer to help with assignments, connect you with lecturers, or assist with accommodation. While their help can be genuine at times, some have ulterior motives. They may eventually ask for favors in return, ranging from financial help to more personal, invasive requests. How to Avoid Them:
The moral of this roadmap is to help you navigate the social landscape of university life wisely. Define yourself, set clear goals, and choose friends who will positively influence your academic and personal growth. Remember, you were offered admission alone, so don’t jeopardize your future by aligning with the wrong crowd. Stay focused, be friendly, and always prioritize your well-being and academic success. Unapologetic woman – I seriously need your advice on this issue. I’m a guy of 31yrs, and my girlfriend is 29. She’s a very religious and strict lady, and she has the features of a good wife.
The issue I’m currently having with her is that whenever she does or says something against me that I don’t like, she will never accept her errors and apologize. She will always stand her ground that she didn’t offend me, and can’t say sorry.
Oftentimes, I get angry and refuse to talk to her for days, and she won’t also make attempt to call or resolve the matter until I later reach out to her for peace. it’s really weakening me as a man to always be the one apologizing even when I’m the one being offended.

Last week, while we were on call, she ended the call abruptly on me which really got me pissed off. She claimed it was because I was singing while on the call, and was not listening to what she was saying. This is not really true because we’ve talked for almost an hour, and at a point their was silence and I was just singing hymns.
When I reached out to her about how offended I was about her action, all I expected was a sorry, rather, she was claiming her right on how she has not offended me.

From that last week up till today, I have not called her, and she hasn’t reached out to me for peace. This is a woman we’re already making plans on having our wedding by next year.
My main issue with her is the ego, and never ready to apologize unless she feels she’s wrong.
I’m seriously tired of all these and I think sorry should be the easiest thing to say for both a man and a woman. I really need your advice.
In a digital age where we are constantly bombarded with perfectly curated snapshots of life, it’s easy to get lost in the illusion that everything is always picture-perfect. However, the Creative Director of Tasued Gengies recently delivered a powerful reminder that behind every post, there might be struggles and pain that aren’t visible to the public eye.
After the sudden and heartbreaking loss of his “Street Sister,” a close friend who passed away, the Creative Director shared his feelings of shock and disbelief. “I had no idea she was struggling, and I’m not alone. Many of us are shocked, wishing we had reached out and checked in more often,” he said. His words resonate deeply, reflecting a sentiment that many of us can relate to. How often do we scroll through our feeds, assuming that those smiling faces and joyful moments represent the full story?
“Let’s not be fooled by the highlight reels on social media!” he urged. This statement is a powerful call to action, urging us to look beyond the surface. Social media has a way of painting a rosy picture, a highlight reel that only shows the best moments, carefully curated to convey happiness, success, and contentment. But life is not always like that. Behind those filters and well-crafted captions, there can be struggles, pain, and battles that go unseen.
It’s easy to assume that someone who looks happy and successful on their social media profile is doing well in real life, but that assumption can be dangerously misleading. The reality is, many people use social media as a mask to hide their true feelings, to escape their problems, or to feel a sense of connection and validation. As the Creative Director pointed out, “Social media often presents a curated version of life, hiding the real struggles and pain.”
The loss of his friend has been a wake-up call, not just for him, but for all of us. It’s a reminder that we need to go beyond the superficial interactions of likes, comments, and shares. We need to make a conscious effort to check in on our friends and loved ones. “Let’s make a conscious effort to check in on friends and loved ones regularly,” he urged. “Ask genuine questions and listen actively. Offer support and be present in their lives. Let’s not wait until it’s too late. Let’s be the friend who makes a difference.”
These words are a poignant reminder of the importance of genuine connection and empathy. In a world where communication is often reduced to quick texts and emojis, taking the time to really talk to someone, to ask how they’re doing, and to listen can make all the difference. Sometimes, a simple “How are you really doing?” can open the door to a conversation that might save a life.
As we navigate through our own lives, it’s important to remember that everyone is fighting their own battles. We might not always see it, but it’s there. So let’s make it a habit to reach out, to connect, and to be there for one another. Because at the end of the day, it’s not the likes or followers that matter—it’s the real, human connections that we build and nurture.
