TASUED Alumni Demand Immediate Reversal of Alumni Fee Increase and Financial Transparency

    0

Moradeyo Ifedayo, a concerned alumnus of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), has taken to the internet to rally support against the recent decision by the TASUED Alumni Association to increase the alumni fee from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000. This fourfold increase has sparked outrage among the alumni community, many of whom are already struggling with financial pressures.

    Alumni Fee Hike Sparks Backlash
In a statement expressing the collective frustration of many TASUED graduates, Ifedayo highlighted the difficult times that alumni are facing, pointing out that the fee hike adds unnecessary financial strain. Instead of facilitating smoother transitions for graduates through initiatives like networking opportunities and job placement programs, the Alumni Association is perceived as adding to the burdens of its members.

    Calls for Accountability and Transparency
Ifedayo and other concerned alumni have raised serious questions about the lack of visible impact from the association’s activities over the years. The decision to increase fees without clear justification has led to demands for greater transparency and accountability. In response, Ifedayo has outlined three key demands from the alumni community:

Immediate Reversal of the Alumni Fee Hike: Alumni are calling for the fee to be rolled back to its original amount of ₦5,000 within the next 72 hours. This demand is non-negotiable.

TASUED Alumni Demand Immediate Reversal of Alumni Fee Increase and Financial Transparency

Submission of a Financial Audit Report: The Alumni President is urged to provide a comprehensive audit report of the association’s financial activities over the past five years. Alumni have given a 72-hour deadline for the submission of this report. Failure to comply will result in a formal complaint to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria, to investigate the financial dealings of the TASUED Alumni Association.

Transparency of the Alumni Association’s Constitution: The executives of the Alumni Association are required to make the association’s constitution available to all alumni within 72 hours. Alumni stress that transparency is crucial in an institution that aims to produce future leaders.

    A Call to Action
Ifedayo’s petition calls on TASUED alumni to unite in holding the Alumni Association accountable. By signing the petition, alumni can collectively demand that the association operates with the integrity and transparency expected of an institution committed to nurturing leaders and trailblazers. The petition emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the TASUED Alumni Association fulfills its duty to support its members and uphold the values of their alma mater.

Ifedayo’s initiative marks a significant step in advocating for the rights and interests of TASUED alumni. As the petition gains traction, it remains to be seen how the TASUED Alumni Association will respond to these demands for change.

“Trophies Don’t Put Food on Table”: Jay Jay Okocha Advice to Victor Osimhen Amid Mega-Money Offers from Al Ahli

Former Nigerian international football star Jay Jay Okocha recently shared his perspective on the ongoing debate about whether players should prioritize trophies or financial gains in their careers. His comments come as Napoli striker Victor Osimhen considers a lucrative offer from Saudi club Al Ahli.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Chelsea has offered the 25-year-old Osimhen a contract worth €4 million per season, with an additional €4 million in bonuses. However, Al Ahli has upped the stakes with a jaw-dropping offer of £33.6 million (€40 million) per season, tax-free, equating to approximately £646,154 per week.

While some fans have urged the Super Eagles forward to continue his career in England for further growth and exposure, others believe the substantial financial package from Saudi Arabia should not be overlooked.

“Trophies Don’t Put Food on Table”: Jay Jay Okocha Advice to Victor Osimhen Amid Mega-Money Offers from Al Ahli

Okocha’s Perspective on Football and Finances

A viral clip has surfaced showing Jay-Jay Okocha’s stance on the matter. The former Bolton Wanderers star made it clear that for many African players, the priority is financial security over trophies. Speaking in Igbo, Okocha, now 51, emphasized the importance of money over silverware:

“I learnt early enough that trophies do not pay school fees. Money pays school fees. So it is the money I was after because I need to better my community,” Okocha explained. He went on to describe how coming from a poor background shaped his priorities, stating, “I needed to change my life and that of my family. If the trophy comes while playing for the money, it is a bonus. We Africans mostly play for the money because we have experienced poverty.”

A Decision to Make for Osimhen

Okocha’s sentiments resonate with many who understand the socioeconomic realities faced by African players. For Osimhen, the decision may come down to balancing career aspirations with financial security. As he weighs his options, the Nigerian forward will have to consider not just the immediate impact on his career but also the long-term benefits for himself and his family.

Whether Osimhen chooses the prestige of the English Premier League or the financial allure of Saudi Arabia, one thing is clear: his decision will be closely watched by football fans around the world.

UI VC Counsels Students to Apply for NELFUND

    0

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, mni, FAS, has counselled Nigerian students, especially those in federal universities to apply for the NELFUND Loan.

He gave the charge while receiving members of the new executive committee of the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union, University of Ibadan, on a courtesy visit to his office.

The Vice-Chancellor said he has observed that students in the South West are not taking full advantage of the opportunity created by the Federal Government to pay their school fees and to provide monthly stipend for them while still in school.

He counselled all undergraduate students in federal universities to maximise the opportunity granted by the Federal Government and apply for the NELFUND Loan because it will relieve their parents/guardians and help them to focus on their studies.

UI VC Counsels Students to Apply for NELFUND

He explained that students should not allow any misconception to deprive them of the opportunity because the Federal Government had designed the loan scheme in a way that the benefactors (students) will not start to pay back until after two years after participation in the NYSC scheme when they are expected to have been gainfully employed.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed the delight of the University Management in receiving the new executive committee members of the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union and appreciated them for recognising that he is an indigene of Ibadan, and the first indigene to become a Vice-Chancellor ever since the establishment of the University.

He noted that Ibadan city is known for its uniqueness and one of the most peaceful cities in the whole world, where many people love to settle down because it is an accommodating town.

Prof Adebowale assured the new executive committee members that he will do all within his power to support the association in its various programmes.

The President, Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union, Mr Shuaib Abdullahi, said that the visit was to introduce the new executive committee members and to intimate the University Management with the activities of the association.

He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for giving them the opportunity to pay the courtesy visit.

He highlighted the various activities the association has planned, which include Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union week to be tagged “Ibadan Legend Week: Ose Ibadan.

Also on the courtesy visit were other members of the executive committee, namely Miss Fathia Afolabi, General Secretary; Miss Blessing Akintunde, Assistant General Secretary; Miss Robiat Abduliahi, Social & Welfare Director; and Mr. Qudus Falade, Public Relations Officer.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration at the University of Ibadan UI, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, has assured that the University supports its staff and students to be innovative.

Professor Olapegba gave this assurance at the demonstration of two Apps developed by students of the Department of Social and Environmental Forestry, Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, as their 2023 Academic Session projects.

He commended the lecturers saying the achievements of the students are indicators of the quality of the staff who continue to bring out the best in their students in spite of the challenges facing the education sector, especially the federal universities.

The DVC assured that the University would give support to the students to advertise their innovations as well as help protect the Intellectual Property rights.

The two Apps that were developed under the supervision of Dr Akintunde Alo are UITTNav and an artificial intelligence model for the identification of selected tree species.

Miss Maryam Mustapha who developed the UITTNav said the App is already on the App store.

She explained that it is an Android application that helps to make known the exact location of threatened tree species, provide a location enabled navigation system that helps users navigate to the location of the threatened trees as well as provide inventory information on each threatened tree.

Miss Mustapha said the app is meant for the sustainable management of the trees within the University of Ibadan to aid their conservation.

Miss Kehinde Temitope Uthman, who developed the second app, said it was an artificial intelligence model for the identification of selected tree species.

She said it was created using RGB imagery collected by a DJI Phantom 4 PRO Drone.

According to the young developer, upon the training and validating of the model, it was deployed on a Windows PC and used to run inference tests on selected images on the PC.

Miss Uthman said results from the testing process revealed the detection of the tree species with the precision of up to 70-90%.

The Dean of the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Professor Adejoke Akinyele said the two Apps will be very useful locally and internationally.

She said that her Faculty was determined to ensure that the University continues to live up to its Mission and Vision statements.

Midnight Confessions – Episode 3: The Morning After

Midnight Confessions - Episode 3: The Morning After

Midnight Confessions – Episode 3: The first rays of dawn broke over the lake, casting a golden glow across the water. Jess stirred, her eyes fluttering open. For a moment, she was disoriented, her mind foggy from sleep. But then she felt the warmth beside her and remembered everything. Dylan was lying next to her, his arm draped over her waist, his chest rising and falling with each breath. Jess smiled, her heart swelling with a mixture of contentment and disbelief. It all felt like a dream.

“Morning,” Dylan mumbled, his voice husky with sleep. He opened his eyes, a lazy smile spreading across his face as he looked at Jess. “Did you sleep well?”

Jess nodded, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks. “Yeah, surprisingly. It was… nice.”

Dylan chuckled, pulling her closer. “Just nice?”

Jess laughed, swatting his arm playfully. “Okay, it was amazing. Last night was… I don’t even have words.”

They lay there for a while, basking in the quiet morning, the sound of birds chirping in the trees, and the gentle lapping of water against the shore. Jess felt a sense of peace she hadn’t felt in a long time, a calmness that settled deep within her. She turned to Dylan, tracing her fingers along his jawline, studying the way his eyes lit up when he looked at her.

“You know, I’ve never done anything like this before,” Jess admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Dylan’s expression softened, his hand coming up to cup her cheek. “Neither have I. But I’m glad it’s with you. I’ve wanted this for so long.”

Jess’s heart skipped a beat at his words, the sincerity in his voice wrapping around her like a warm blanket. She leaned in, pressing her lips to his, a soft, lingering kiss that spoke of promises and new beginnings. Dylan’s arms tightened around her, pulling her closer, his hands sliding down her back, tracing the curve of her spine.

Their kisses deepened, growing more urgent, more insistent. Jess felt a heat building between them, a desire that burned through her, setting her skin alight. Dylan’s hands roamed over her body, exploring, caressing, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. Jess gasped as his lips moved to her neck, his teeth grazing her skin, sending shivers down her spine.

Midnight Confessions - Episode 3: The Morning After

“Dylan,” she whispered, her voice breathless. She felt his smile against her skin, his hands sliding under her shirt, pushing it up, exposing her bare skin to the cool morning air. Jess shivered, a mixture of anticipation and desire coursing through her veins.

Dylan pulled back, his eyes dark with need, his breath coming in short gasps. “Are you sure about this?” he asked, his voice strained. “I don’t want to rush you.”

Jess looked into his eyes, seeing the concern, the desire, the love reflected back at her. She nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. “I’m sure,” she said, her voice steady. “I want this. I want you.”

Dylan’s eyes softened, a look of relief washing over his face. He leaned in, capturing her lips in a searing kiss, his hands moving with a newfound urgency. He tugged at her shirt, pulling it over her head, his fingers tracing the outline of her bra, his touch sending sparks of electricity through her. Jess arched into his touch, her body responding to him, her own hands roaming over his chest, feeling the hard muscles beneath his shirt.

They shed their clothes quickly, eager, desperate to feel each other, to erase the space between them. Jess’s skin tingled under Dylan’s touch, his hands and lips exploring every inch of her, making her gasp, making her moan. She felt the heat between her legs, a throbbing ache that only he could satisfy.

Dylan’s mouth moved to her breasts, his tongue teasing her nipples, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin. Jess cried out, her fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer, needing more. Dylan’s hand slid down her stomach, his fingers slipping between her thighs, finding the wetness there, the evidence of her desire. He groaned, his breath hot against her skin.

“You’re so wet for me,” he murmured, his fingers sliding inside her, making her gasp, making her arch against him. Jess’s head fell back, her eyes closing as he moved inside her, his thumb rubbing circles over her clit, sending waves of pleasure crashing over her.

“Oh, God, Dylan,” she moaned, her hips moving against his hand, seeking more, needing more. Dylan’s mouth found hers, his kiss hungry, desperate, his fingers working her, building her up, taking her higher.

Jess’s body trembled, the pleasure building, coiling tight inside her, ready to snap. She felt the tension peak, felt the world blur around her, and then she was falling, crashing over the edge, her orgasm washing over her, leaving her breathless, trembling in Dylan’s arms.

Dylan kissed her, his lips soft, his touch gentle as he held her, let her ride out the waves of pleasure. Jess’s breathing slowed, her heart still pounding in her chest, a smile spreading across her face.

“Wow,” she whispered, looking up at him, her eyes sparkling with joy.

Dylan grinned, his own breath coming in short gasps. “We’re just getting started,” he said, his voice low, filled with promise.

Jess felt a shiver of anticipation run through her, her desire reigniting, the thought of what was to come making her body hum with need. She reached for him, her hands sliding over his skin, pulling him closer, ready to lose herself in him once more.

As the sun rose higher in the sky, casting a golden light over the lake, Jess and Dylan came together, their bodies moving in perfect harmony, their hearts beating as one. And for that moment, in that place, nothing else mattered. It was just the two of them, lost in the magic of the morning, in the promise of love and the beauty of new beginnings.

Midnight Confessions - Episode 2: Secrets Under the Stars The Night We fell

Secrets Under the Stars – A week had passed since that electrifying night in the library, and things were different now. Jess and Dylan had been spending more time together, sharing coffee after class, exchanging glances that made Jess’s heart race, and sending texts late into the night. Jess found herself smiling more, laughing at Dylan’s jokes, and feeling a warmth in her chest she hadn’t felt in a long time.

But the fear lingered—fear of getting hurt, of Dylan losing interest, of everything crashing down around her. So when Dylan suggested a quiet night out, just the two of them, Jess was hesitant.

“It’s not like it’s a date or anything,” Dylan had said with a grin, his eyes twinkling mischievously. “Just a chance to hang out, away from campus. There’s this spot by the lake, a little secluded. Thought it might be nice.”

Despite her reservations, Jess agreed. She couldn’t deny the pull she felt toward him, the magnetic force that drew her in. That evening, she found herself waiting outside her dorm, her heart pounding as she saw Dylan’s car pull up. He hopped out, opening the passenger door for her with a playful bow.

“Your chariot awaits, m’lady,” he said, making her laugh.

They drove in comfortable silence, the setting sun casting a golden glow over the trees. Dylan glanced over at Jess, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the steering wheel. “You look beautiful tonight,” he said, his voice soft.

Jess felt a blush creep up her cheeks. “You’re just saying that.”

“No,” Dylan said, his tone serious. “I mean it.”

They arrived at the lake just as the sky turned a deep shade of blue, stars beginning to twinkle above. Dylan led Jess down a narrow path, through a small grove of trees, until they reached a clearing. The lake spread out before them, the water shimmering under the moonlight. Dylan had set up a blanket on the ground, a small picnic basket beside it.

“You did all this?” Jess asked, her voice filled with surprise.

Dylan shrugged, a shy smile on his face. “I wanted to do something special. You deserve it.”

They sat down on the blanket, the cool breeze rustling through the leaves. Dylan pulled out a bottle of wine and two glasses, pouring each of them a drink. They clinked their glasses together, a silent toast to the night.

For a while, they just talked, their voices blending with the sounds of the night. Dylan told Jess about his family, about his love for music, and his dream of traveling the world. Jess opened up about her writing, about the stories she kept locked away in her journals, the ones too personal to share with anyone else.

“You should let me read them sometime,” Dylan said, his eyes soft with sincerity.

Midnight Confessions - Episode 2: Secrets Under the Stars

Jess shook her head, laughing. “Maybe one day. They’re not ready for the world yet.”

As the night wore on, the conversation drifted, turning to lighter topics—favorite movies, embarrassing childhood memories, the latest campus gossip. They laughed until their sides hurt, the sound echoing across the water. Jess felt a lightness she hadn’t felt in ages, a sense of belonging she hadn’t known she craved.

After a while, the laughter faded, replaced by a comfortable silence. Dylan shifted closer, his arm brushing against Jess’s. She looked up at him, her heart racing. In the dim light, his features were softened, his eyes reflecting the stars above.

“Jess,” he said, his voice barely a whisper. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

Jess’s heart skipped a beat. “What is it?”

Dylan took a deep breath, his hand reaching out to take hers. “I know I’ve got a reputation, and I know you probably think I’m just playing around. But I’m not. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. You make me want to be better, to be someone you can trust. I don’t want to mess this up.”

Jess felt a lump form in her throat. She squeezed his hand, her fingers entwining with his. “I’m scared, Dylan,” she admitted. “I’ve been hurt before, and I don’t know if I can go through that again.”

Dylan’s grip tightened, his eyes filled with determination. “I’m not going to hurt you. I promise. I want this, Jess. I want us.”

Tears pricked Jess’s eyes, but she blinked them away. She wanted to believe him, to trust him. And as she looked into his eyes, she felt her resolve weaken. Maybe, just maybe, this was worth the risk.

Without another word, Dylan leaned in, his lips brushing against hers. The kiss was soft, tentative, filled with unspoken promises. Jess melted into his embrace, her arms wrapping around his neck as the kiss deepened. She felt his hands slide around her waist, pulling her closer, their bodies pressed together.

They broke apart, breathless, their foreheads resting against each other. Jess felt a smile tug at her lips, a mix of relief and joy flooding her chest. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but in that moment, under the stars, she felt like anything was possible.

“Stay with me tonight,” Dylan whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Let’s watch the stars and forget about everything else.”

Jess nodded, her heart soaring. “I’d like that.”

As they lay back on the blanket, staring up at the endless sky, Jess felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but with Dylan by her side, she was ready to face whatever came next.

And for the first time in a long time, Jess felt truly happy.

Midnight Confessions – It was the middle of the semester, and the campus was buzzing with the usual mix of stress and excitement. Group projects, late-night study sessions, and spontaneous parties filled the days and nights. Among the hustle and bustle, Jess was navigating her second year of college. She was known for her quick wit, sharp tongue, and an eye for detail, especially in her creative writing class. She had a tight-knit group of friends, but there was one person she kept at a distance—Dylan, the charming, confident guy from her literature course. Midnight Confessions

Dylan was the kind of guy everyone noticed. He had this natural charisma that made him the center of attention wherever he went. His laid-back attitude and easy smile made him popular, and he had a reputation as a bit of a flirt. Jess had tried to ignore him for most of the year, partly because of his reputation and partly because of the flutter in her stomach every time he was near. But fate, it seemed, had other plans.

One evening, after a grueling day of back-to-back lectures, Jess found herself at the college library, the only place quiet enough to concentrate on her upcoming essay. The library was nearly empty, safe for a few late-night scholars buried in their books. Jess was tucked away in a secluded corner, surrounded by stacks of literature on modern poetry, her laptop opened in front of her.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over her table. She looked up, surprised to see Dylan standing there, holding a stack of books.

“Mind if I join you? Looks like all the other tables are taken,” he said, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Jess hesitated but then shrugged. “Sure, as long as you’re quiet. I’m trying to finish this essay.”

Dylan sat across from her, and for a while, they both worked in silence. The only sounds were the occasional rustling of paper and the soft hum of the library’s air condition. Jess tried to focus on her work, but she could feel Dylan’s presence, the scent of his cologne drifting across the table. She stole a glance at him, noticing the way his hair fell into his eyes, the way his fingers tapped rhythmically against the table as he read.

After a while, Dylan broke the silence. “You’ve been avoiding me,” he said, his voice low.

Jess looked up, caught off guard. “What makes you say that?”

“You never talk to me outside of class. Actually, you barely talk to me in class. Did I do something to offend you?” he asked, his expression genuinely curious.

Jess sighed, closing her laptop. “It’s not that. I just… you have a reputation, Dylan. And I’m not looking to be another notch on your belt.”

Dylan leaned back in his chair, studying her. “You think I’m just a flirt, huh? Well, maybe I am. But have you ever thought there might be more to me than that?”

Jess raised an eyebrow. “Like what?”

Dylan smiled, but this time there was something vulnerable in his eyes. “Like maybe I’m more interested in you than I let on. Maybe I’ve been looking for a way to get to know you better, but you keep pushing me away.”

Jess was silent for a moment, her mind racing. She hadn’t expected this. She hadn’t expected him to be sincere. “Why me?” she finally asked.

Dylan leaned forward, his gaze locking onto hers. “Because you’re different. You don’t fall for my charm. You challenge me, make me want to be better. And because, despite everything, I can’t stop thinking about you.”

The air between them grew heavy, charged with an intensity that was impossible to ignore. Jess felt her heart pound in her chest, a mixture of fear and excitement. She had spent so long building walls around herself, but now, with Dylan looking at her like that, those walls began to crumble.

“Okay,” she said softly, her voice barely a whisper. “Maybe I’ve been thinking about you, too.”

Dylan’s eyes lit up, and he moved around the table, taking a seat next to her. “Can I show you something?” he asked.

Jess nodded, her breathe catching as he pulled out a small notebook from his bag. He flipped it open to a page filled with scribbled notes and handed it to her. As she read, she realized it was a poem—a raw, honest piece about longing and the fear of rejection. She looked up at him, her eyes wide.

“You wrote this?” she asked, her voice shaking.

Dylan nodded. “I’ve been writing a lot lately. Mostly about you.”

Without thinking, Jess reached out, her fingers brushing against his. The touch was electric, sending a shiver down her spine. Dylan looked at her, his eyes darkening with desire. Slowly, he leaned in, his lips inches from hers.

“Jess, I’ve wanted this for so long,” he murmured.

Before she could respond, his lips were on hers, gentle yet demanding. She melted into the kiss, all her doubts and fears fading away. His hands slid around her waist, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss. Jess felt a surge of emotion, a need so intense it left her breathless. Midnight Confessions

They broke apart, gasping for air, their foreheads resting against each other. “I don’t want to be just another fling, Dylan,” Jess said, her voice trembling.

Dylan cupped her face in his hands, his gaze sincere. “You’re not. You never could be. I want to be with you, Jess. No games, no lies. Just us.”

Tears filled Jess’s eyes as she nodded. “Okay,” she whispered. “Let’s see where this goes.”

They kissed again, their hearts beating in sync, two souls finding solace in each other. In that quiet corner of the library, under the dim lights and the scent of old books, Jess and Dylan found something real, something worth holding onto.

As they sat there, wrapped in each other’s arms, the world outside faded away, leaving only the promise of new beginning and the sweet taste of love.
