GOV. ABIODUN’S AIDE COMMENDS TASUED MANAGEMENT, DESPITE LIMITED RESOURCES

Date:

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State on Tertiary Education, Prof. Sidi Osho has thrown her weight behind the University, despite limited resources available to run the affairs of the Institution.

Prof. Osho, alongside other senior officers in the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology came for, among other tertiary Institutions in Ogun State, on-the-spot assessment of resources.

She noted that the focal point of this administration was to digitalise and institutionalise education through linking the State Higher Institutions with world class tertiary institutions, thereby, attracting research grants and collaborations.

Prof. Sidi Osho, who is a Food Systems Agriculture Expert and Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Afe Babalola University between 2009 and 2014 further advised the Management to tap into the Public Private Partnership initiative so as to springboard developments in the University.

She, however, reiterated the State Government’s resolve to reposition tertiary education in the Gateway State while she also praised the institution for the serene and conducive academic environment, which she noted, befits a tertiary institution like TASUED.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Arigbabu commended the State Government for appointing a core technocrat who understands how a 21st Century University is run, with this, he added, would boost the standard of education in Ogun State.

The Vice Chancellor, while x-raying the avalanche of achievements the institution has recorded within its short years of establishment which include the recent approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) of additional 59 new programmes and Ph.D, M.Sc, M.A, B.A and B.Sc in some courses, also noted that TASUED is second to none.

He, therefore, appealed to the State Government to increase the subvention being allocated to the Institution, noting that funding is a major challenge confronting the University, with a special plea to the Governor and Visitor to the University, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun to bail the Institution out of the numerous challenges facing it.

The visitors later embarked on the tour of the University.

Other members of the team include the Director, Primary and Higher Education, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye; the Deputy Director, Bureau of Higher Education, Mr. Awaye; Mrs. Ayoola and Mr. Abdulateef Ashiru amongst others.
