Business mogul and Chairman of Rite Foods and one of the benefactors of the University, Alhaji Sulaimon Adebola Adegunwa has reiterated his support for Tai Solarin University of Education, especially, in the area of Vocational Education.
He said this at the sod turning ceremony of the College of Vocational and Technology Education (COVTED) of the University, held at the Ososa Campus of the Institution recently.
Alhaji Adegunwa disclosed that panacea to Nigeria’s economic conundrums and the scourge of unemployment can only be solved through compulsory inclusion of vocational training in the curricula of educational institutions.
The philanthropist commended the Management team of the University for fulfilling the promise to turn the Ososa Campus into a technological hub where experts in various fields of vocational technology would be moulded. “We need TASUED to help us in pushing our vision to reality. By doing this, Nigeria will be a better place for all of us” he noted.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu thanked Alhaji Adegunwa for his countless support to the University over the years, with an assurance that the proposed COVTED building is a dream come true.
Foundation of other projects like the Microfinance Bank, the Postgraduate College and the Work Study Building were also laid by the Vice Chancellor, which was part of the activities marking his second year in office.
The Vice Chancellor, who earlier met with the leadership of the Student’s Union for interactive session, also kicked-off a novelty match and volleyball competition to commemorate the occasion.
