I bring warm greetings, homage, salutations and regards to echelon of our esteemed association, NAOSS.
First, I simply want to say thank you. Thank you all. I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me and I will never forget that it is you, NAOSSites, whom I serve.
It is a thing of joy and gratitude to stand before you today, having been inaugurated as the Speaker of the Parliament of our dear association.
Most respectfully, I give thanks to Almighty Allah, who by His guide, guard and blessings has been blossomly beneficial to me from the commencement of this pursuit till this very moment.
With recognition to the root and inspirational bedrock of our association. The founding fathers of this association have devoted a whole lot to ensure it continues to exist and responsibly reflect its main purposes.
NAOSS, as I have witnessed many of her activities an an association embedded with high ideological values, moral standards and quintessential importance in the representation of her members and positioning itself in the comity of sisters association.
As the Speaker of this association, I have a task to hold the grip of the association in respect to her values, constitutional ethos and duties. My legislative experience shall be helpful and will be a guide as I prepare to steer the wheel of the Parliament, and by extension the association.
It is often common that there is infraction and conflict of interest between the legislative body and the executive arm, not only in our association, but other associations and at the national scale of governance in the country. This, I am aware of and prepared for. However, I have an understanding that the disposition of the legislature and the way it handles every matters before it in ensuring conflicts are appropriately managed and maintained. Besides, I believe every disagreement is in the good interest and love for the progress of our association. I will therefore, judiciously identify with this and work along to keep it firm.
The legislative and executive arm of NAOSS shall have an harmonious working relationship. We shall compare ideas and notes for the progress of all members of the association. No personal interest shall override the collective will of everyone.
As an experienced students’ leader, I am equipped with the basic tenets and demands expected of members of an association. This requires responsible leadership, active and functional officials, truthful and factual leaders and above all, a leader that identify with them at all times.
The Parliament of NAOSS, as the Speaker will advance these causes and ideological beliefs, and ensure we deposit all our energies and strength to propel the causes of these representations.
I shall coordinate a legislative body that shall abide by the basic ethics of legislation that is of global standard, make sure voices are heard, respect every opinion and by so doing, decide the faith of the association.
The Parliament shall act responsibly, organise fundamental programs and tame the exotic tastes of many products of the association to project our ideas, plans and visions to NAOSSites. We shall be alive to the realities of COVID-19 to maintain the face of this association. Of course, it has opened our eyes to a lot of what we are capable of achieving and cornering potentials. By God’s grace, I am prepared to lead a voice to meticulously build on those prospects for the benefit of men and women of this association.
Dear NAOSSites, I wish to thank you, all stakeholders, friends and partners in struggle for the trust and support extended to ensure I emerge the Speaker of this Parliament. I assure you it shall be a worthy leadership and legislation shall go forward.
Thank you all very much and God bless you.
Rt. Hon Rabiu Ridwan,
Speaker of the Parliament
National Association of Osun State Students.
