The acting Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, Professor Oluwole Sikiru Banjo, has felicitated with the entire people of Ogun State – home and abroad – as the Gateway State turns 45. Felicitating with the State through a press release, the Don shared the historical background of the university and its general impact on the educational status in the state.
Speaking on, he said, “Sometime along the way in the 45-year journey into history of our great Gateway State, there was the pivotal instinct of establishing Nigeria’s Premier University of Education in Ogun State, Nigeria’s epicentre of Western Education.
Located on a large expanse of land along Sagamu–Ore-Benin expressway, the beautiful landscape and serene academic environment of TASUED; reincarnation of the erstwhile Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) that itself was formerly Ogun State College of Education established in 1978, truly radiates the dignified grandeur of Ogun State’s first tertiary Institution after its creation in 1976.”
According to him, “the University is amid the historical landmark achievements of our great State at 45! We have been a melting-pot for the formulation of educational policies and a Resource Centre for Colleges/Institutes and Faculties of Education across the nation and globally. We have excelled in the business of producing high-level manpower in the teaching profession: We are meeting the strategic manpower and infrastructure needs of the State and nation while maintaining global standards in the teaching profession.”
“We most heartily and specially greet the founding fathers of our great State for their vision. We salute their efforts at building a State rich in human and material resources. We humbly acknowledge the various roles we have all played in making the State occupy the enviable front seat among the States of the Federation.”
“We are indeed very delighted to be part of the great strides as a Centre of Excellence in Education and making Ogun State the Education capital of Nigeria”, he added.
