The Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Prof. Oluwole Banjo, FWISON, FASN, FAIMP, DFISN, has appealed to Nigerian youths to shun cultism, gangsterism, and other deviant acts plaguing the nation.
Prof. Banjo made this appeal on Friday, July 26, 2024, during the matriculation ceremony for newly admitted part-time students for the 2023/2024 academic session at the Ijagun main campus.
“Here at TASUED, there’s no room for cultism,” the Vice-Chancellor stated firmly. “If you are caught and your membership is discovered, you will not be spared. You will be expelled and handed over to the Nigeria Police.”
The event marked a significant milestone for over 200 new students as they officially began their academic journey at the institution.
Prof. Banjo emphasized the University’s commitment to fostering diversity, unity, and academic excellence.
He encouraged the matriculants to take full advantage of the opportunities available at TASUED, both in and out of the classroom.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of holistic Education, urging students to engage in extracurricular activities and embrace diverse experiences offered by the University.
Prof. Banjo stressed the significance of maintaining a minimum 75% attendance in lectures and performing well in continuous assessments, which contribute 30% to their overall grades. He advised the new students to adhere strictly to the University’s rules and regulations while making the most of available resources, including mentorship from faculty members and staff.
The Vice-Chancellor reminded the students that their Education at TASUED goes beyond academic pursuits, serving as a platform for personal and intellectual growth. He concluded by congratulating the new students and welcoming them to the “Premier and Preferred University of Education and Citadel of Academic Excellence.”
The University Registrar, Mr Dapo Oke, FCIA, administered the oath of studentship to the new students.
The event was attended by other members of the management team, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adekunle Adeogun, the Bursar, Mr Kabir Ogunneye, the Acting Librarian, Mr Omotayo Kadir, the Provost, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Femi Fatade, Deans of Colleges and other high-ranking officers of the University.
